Library

The Colburn Library, located on the second floor of the Olive Building, houses a circulating collection of books, scores and parts, recordings, and online subscription resources available to all students on campus, as well as links to useful supplemental internet resources. The Library also has an extensive collection of reference titles including collected editions, facsimiles, and other print reference sources. The Library’s recordings include compact discs of the classical repertoire and jazz, and a DVD collection of music and dance performances and movies.

Using the Colburn Library

Colburn Library Books, Scores, and Parts
Books, scores and parts, CDs and DVDs are available for check out in the library. You can come in an browse the collection or look up the items you need using our online catalog. If you need assistance, please ask any member of the library staff. The circulation policies for various items are listed below.

Digital Resources
Audio, video, and text are available via the Digital Resources page. If you have any trouble gaining access to any resource, please contact Deborah Smith at dsmith@colburnschool.edu. You can use all of the digital resources from anywhere on campus.

Interlibrary Loan
If you have need of a score that the Colburn Library does not own, please submit the Interlibrary Loan form on the Services page. We will make every effort to obtain it for you. Materials acquired through interlibrary loan usually take from one to two weeks to arrive.

Research Assistance
Research assistance is available to all students. Contact Deborah Smith at dsmith@colburnschool.edu with your needs and we will set up a meeting or discuss your project and get you the information and materials you need.

Course Reserves
All course materials will be available through your individual course pages on Canvas. Course reserves are also available in the library and can be checked out for two hours.

The Library’s online catalog, its streaming audio resources, and its online print databases are accessible at all times from anywhere in the Colburn School through the school’s website. For assistance in finding materials, using the online resources, and other information needs, please contact Library Director Deborah Smith at dsmith@colburnschool.edu.

Overdue Charges

Overdue charges are accrued at the rate of $.20/day. Materials that are 30 days or more overdue will be charged for replacement. While the campus was closed due to COVID-19, overdue charges were being waived. All materials will be due when the campus reopens, and missing items will be charged for replacement.
