Violinists from the Colburn Conservatory of Music celebrate the birthday of renowned violinist Jascha Heifetz, born on February 2, 1901, in a concert broadcast live from the Heifetz Studio. Curated by Robert Lipsett, Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair at Colburn, the program pays tribute to Heifetz’s legacy and features his own arrangements and works of special importance during his life.
The concert offers a rare glimpse inside the Heifetz Studio on The Colburn School campus. Originally located in Beverly Hills, the studio was carefully deconstructed following Heifetz’s death and rebuilt piece-by-piece at the Colburn School. Designed by Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright, the studio includes Heifetz’s original furnishings, photographs, and memorabilia.
