The Colburn Music Academy is focused on expanding students’ musical knowledge and performance abilities in preparation for post-secondary study and careers as professional musicians. The Music Academy does not grant high school diplomas. The intensive components of Music Academy instruction and associated activities take place at various times during the week, and students must complete their state-mandated academic education requirements through an external accredited K-12 school. Colburn has relationships with high school programs, and you can find more information about these schools below.
Colburn has partnered with ASU Prep for our pre-college, high school academic program. If you are a residential student at the Colburn School you are required to use ASU Prep to complete your high school education.
ASU Prep Global Academy, affiliated with Arizona State University, is a private school where online K-12 and university courses converge in a unique learning opportunity for all students. Unique to the program, Global Academy is integrated with the university, with more than 200 pathways into the disciplines that give students direct access to university faculty and major-level courses in high school. Global Academy aims to provide a robust, fully virtual educational program for students all around the globe. ASU Prep is proudly accredited by Cognia and their program is UC A-G approved as well as NCAA approved.

ASU Prep offers engaging digital courses coupled with highly qualified and experienced educators who provide a high-tech, high-touch experience. ASU Prep Global Academy teachers offer weekly live learning sessions, small group and 1:1 support. In addition to their teachers, students have access to a Learning Specialist to support their academic success in the program, provide academic advising, and college and career coaching.
Students enrolled with ASU Prep Global Academy will experience:
Tuition for each student enrolled in ASU Prep is approximately $8,000.00 per year (final tuition amount will be finalized by April 2025). Tuition may be paid in full or in installments. Tuition is inclusive of all curriculum, either online or textbook, and use of the learning center.
Colburn Music Academy students may be eligible for a 10% tuition discount to Laurel Springs School. The online K-12 school provides students scheduling flexibility to fit in both academic classwork as well as music studies and performance commitments.
Additional high school options may be available, by approval from the Provost with Laurel Springs School.
