Tesserae Baroque presents a program exploring the evolution of the trio sonata throughout the Baroque period, in works by Castello, Rossi, Corelli, Bach, and others.

“Saving Classical Music” is the 2nd concert of its fundraising series promoting the relevancy of classical music in today’s noisy and distracted world. The goal of this series is to fundraise and keep classical music relevant and showcase the importance of sharing music history, how it’s influenced society over time, and highlight up and coming classical composers . All proceeds from this concert will go towards the MELBA Foundation.

Dancer and choreographer Michael Montgomery works with students in the Dance Academy in an onstage masterclass as part of his Amplify residency. This season, he also choreographs a new ballet for Dance Academy students to perform at Counterpointe and the year-end Spring Dance Festival.

Heritage masterworks are represented on this program in music by Brahms and Mendelssohn, then principal percussionist and audience favorite Ji Hye Jung will present you with new masterworks.

Lionel Yu comes to Los Angeles for the first time to perform an exciting concert at Zipper Hall. He will perform classical pieces, original pieces from his Lionel Yu catalogue, and EDM remixes from his We Are One and MusicalBasics catalogues.

Colburn Alumni Harout Senekeremian presents works by Debussy, Khatchaturian, Gianopoulos, Liszt and Gershwin.

Experience great artistry as students from the Conservatory of Music perform solo and chamber works in this weekly recital series. This performance will be livestreamed.

Visit the Colburn Café for lunch on January 27 to be transported back in time to 18th-century Germany, with a free performance by the Colburn Baroque Ensemble. Enjoy a program featuring concertos by Telemann and Bach, and Bach’s “Coffee Cantata”, a miniature comic opera. 

The Colburn Conservatory’s flagship ensemble conducted by Elias Peter Brown, Salonen Fellow in the Colburn School’s Negaunee Conducting Program, presents Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony, a palette of orchestral colors and moods–jubilant, tender, agitated, and victorious. Conservatory violinist Ezra Shcolnik performs the gorgeously expressive and bravura violin concerto by Karl Goldmark.

The celebrated Spanish Brass comes to Colburn for a joint concert with the brilliant young brass musicians of the Conservatory of Music. 

Trumpeters Carlos Benetó and Juanjo Serna lead an in-depth master class with Colburn students, offering a rare glimpse into the artistic, creative, and learning processes. Carlos and Juanjo are both members the renowned Spanish Brass ensemble.
