Passion runs high in this program combining Lili Boulanger’s foreboding final composition, Rachmaninoff’s soulful second piano concerto, and the vibrant art gallery stroll that is Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
BOULANGER D’un Soir Triste RACHMANINOFF Piano Concerto No. 2 MUSSORGSKY, arr. RAVEL Pictures at an Exhibition
In memoriam of Colburn alumni Liana Cohen, piano, and Dr. Ruben Cohen, violin, two music competitions and concerts have been established by their family. On March 25, the competition winners will perform in the Liana Cohen Music Festival hosted in Zipper Hall, in honor of Liana’s birthday. Richard Schwab, Ruben's violin teacher, will speak prior to the students performing and receiving awards. The Cohen family’s purpose for the competitions and concerts is to encourage youth to study classical music.
