Enhance your Habsburg Harmonies: Haydn, Ligeti, and Brahms concert experience with a delightful afternoon tea at the Colburn Café before the show. Enjoy a variety of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries while you are served your choice of delectable tea.

Travel across the centuries in this program of vibrant chamber works rooted in the rich Austro-Hungarian musical tradition. First, Haydn’s “Quinten” string quartet masterfully darts from major to minor as each movement transforms and embellishes the central theme. The winds then take center stage for Ligeti’s whimsical Six Bagatelles, a piece saturated with Hungarian folk melodies, before two violins, two violas, and a cello close out the concert with Brahms’s radiant and warm String Quintet No. 1. The Community School’s Concert Band and Wind Ensemble—led by Eleanor Núñez, Rafael and Luisa DMH Foundation Director of Bands, Colburn Youth Sinfonietta and Colburn Youth Orchestra Director, and Conducting Instructor—perform thrilling works for brass, winds, and percussion.

Led by renowned German conductor Kevin John Edusei, the Colburn Orchestra returns to The Wallis with a lavish program spotlighting the rich cultural heritages of its composers. The concert opens with Ernest Bloch’s Jewish-inspired masterpiece Schelomo, an intense and poignant rhapsody that casts the cello as King Solomon and the orchestra as a world full of temptation. Bedřich Smetana’s Má vlast ("My Country") then invites the audience on a journey through Bohemia’s countryside and lore in a rousing, atmospheric love letter to his Czech homeland.

Top students from the Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute present an evening of chamber works.

A beloved tradition for 50 years and counting, the Grammy-winning ensemble’s joyful holiday program is a must-see for music lovers of all ages. This showstopping concert is filled with playful arrangements of festive favorites, heartwarming holiday hijinks, and bold brass sounds. Experience Canadian Brass’s “unbeatable blend of virtuosity, spontaneity, and humor” (Washington Post) as they celebrate the season in LA’s favorite hall for chamber music.

Musical Director Liz Kinnon leads Colburn's Adult Jazz Workshops in a mix of swing, blues, be-bop, and Latin-flavored tunes. Repertoire includes standards by such icons as Vince Guaraldi, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, and others.

Under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen, Colburn's Maestro Ernst H. Katz Chair of Conducting Studies, the Colburn Orchestra brings to life Bruckner’s sweeping "Romantic" Symphony: a vivid narrative of medieval knights, the enchantment of nature, and the thrilling drama of forest hunts. Joining Esa-Pekka on the program are Salonen Conducting Fellows Aleksandra Melaniuk and Mert Yalniz, with Yalniz conducting the world premiere of his own orchestral composition. Lizst’s bold and playful symphonic poem Les Préludes opens the concert.  

Delirium Musicum, the 21st-century musical phenomenon, ignites Los Angeles in 2026 at Zipper Hall. The fearless ensemble of 13 virtuosos breathes fire into works from the Baroque to the music of tomorrow, redefining classical music as the new red-hot experience. Celebrating their new Warner Classics album Cabinet of Curiosities, the program unfolds as an imaginative patchwork—an Advent calendar for listeners—where each piece opens a thrilling new window into another musical universe.
