Spanish clarinetist Cristina Mateo Sáez has been a prizewinner at numerous international competitions including the Pasadena Showcase House Competition, the Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition, the International Clarinet Association Competition, the National Repertory Orchestra Concerto Competition (First Prize) and the Villanueva del Arzobispo Clarinet Competition (First Prize). She has appeared as a concerto soloist with The Colburn Orchestra (under Esa-Pekka Salonen), the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra and gave the world premiere of Fuminori Tanada’s clarinet concerto Summerwind with the Rouen Opera Orchestra. She has played guest principal clarinet with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and appeared with the Tanglewood Music Centre Orchestra and the Almería Symphony Orchestra. Cristina completed her undergraduate studies at The Colburn Conservatory with Professor Yehuda Gilad.
