Clarinetist William Wellwood received his MM from the Yale School of Music and his DMA from the University of Southern California. William H. Wellwood has performed in orchestras and chamber groups throughout the United States.
Clarinetist William Wellwood received his MM from the Yale School of Music and his DMA from the University of Southern California. William H. Wellwood has performed in orchestras and chamber groups throughout the United States. Dr. Wellwood has been principal clarinetist with the Torrance Symphony Orchestra and is currently bass clarinetist with the American Concert Winds/Long Beach Municipal Band. He has recently performed on the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts annual Faculty Showcase Recital.
Other performances include the Long Beach Opera, Symphony in the Glen, Hollywood Bowl (American Concert Winds), Zipper Orchestra, Redlands Symphony Orchestra, and the IAMS Faculty Concert Series. His appearances as a soloist have included concerts with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Cedar Rapids Municipal Band, and the Pomona College Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Wellwood is on the faculty of La Sierra University, the Institute of Arts, Music, and Science in Bellflower, the Claremont Community School of Music, and the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts. He is a member of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, the Musical Arts Competition of Orange County, and the Music Teachers’ Association of California, and serves on the MTAC San Gabriel Valley Branch Board of Directors as the Certificate of Merit Branch Chair Winds and the VOCE Branch Chair. Dr. Wellwood has completed studies with Yehuda Gilad, David Shifrin, David Howard, and Kalman Bloch.
