Music Academy Viola Scholarships

Full-Tuition Scholarships for Gifted Young Violists

The Colburn Music Academy provides pre-college training for exceptional young classical musicians who are ready to dedicate themselves fully to the art form. We help students unlock their full artistic potential and build a musical foundation essential for a thriving career in music.

For the 2025-26 school year, we’re pleased to offer a limited number of full-tuition scholarships to talented violists, ages 14–18. Music Academy students work closely with world-renowned faculty, including Jonathan Brown and  Tatjana Masurenko, receiving the highest caliber of artistic mentorship.

Our comprehensive curriculum includes:

  • Private instruction with top-tier faculty
  • Chamber music and studio classes
  • Music theory, history, and ear training
  • Career development and presentation skills
  • Frequent public performances both on and off campus
  • Master classes and cross-disciplinary collaborations

Music Academy students perform regularly on Colburn’s professional stages, throughout the Los Angeles community, and in collaboration with institutions such Trudl Zipper Dance Institute. Highlights include solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and performances as part of the Academy Virtuosi—a conductor-less ensemble that performs at least two major concerts per year.

Auditions are scheduled individually, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
