We want our students to feel comfortable and safe at the Colburn School campus while attending classes, in one of our practice rooms, or while living in the residence hall. Security remains our utmost priority. In addition to residence hall staff and student advisors available to students, our Security Office is on site to help students. Colburn security officers are trained in adult, child, and infant CPR and are AED and EpiPen certified.
The Colburn School has 45 state-of-the-art practice rooms which are available during regular campus hours, 7 am to 10 pm on Monday through Friday. Students may reserve a practice room through the computer stations located in the Grand and Olive building lobbies.
Our security officers are available to accompany students and visitors to parking areas or across the plaza to wait for transportation between 10 pm and 2:30 am seven days a week. Make a reservation to be escorted by calling the security office at 213-621-4500.
We ask drivers to request a parking decal from the security desk in the lobby of the Grand building.
If you think you’ve left behind a personal belonging, check for it at the security desk in the lobby of the Grand building, which is where items found without an owner are stored. Be prepared to offer evidence of ownership. Also, you can file a report of lost items with a security officer.
If you see something, say something. Parents, students, and all other members of the Colburn community should contact Colburn security if they see anything suspicious or out of place. Issues may be reported to the security desk or by calling the security office at 213-621-4500.
Informacast is an alert notification system that communicates emergencies to the Colburn School community through text messages. In the event of an emergency, including fire or active shooter, text messages will notify you of the nature of the emergency, what to do during the emergency, and when the situation is resolved and safe.
Informacast is available to all of the Colburn School community, including parents of Colburn Conservatory, Music Academy, or Dance Academy students. You can register for the service by texting “#emergencynotification” to 562-543-4269. Contact Security Director Sandra Gendron with any questions or for assistance in registering at sgendron@colburnschool.edu.
You’ll find emergency phones, indicated with blue lights, throughout campus and parking structures. These phones directly connect you with the campus security office. You can also seek assistance by calling 213-621-4500.
