This conductorless chamber orchestra comprised of talented young musicians brings to life a rich program of works by Franz Schreker, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and LA-based composer Quenton Blache. The concert will also feature a dazzling performance by cellist and Music Academy Concerto Competition winner Angela Rose Padula. This performance will be livestreamed.
Experience works by two masters of the string quartet, Josef Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven. Each quartet is full of invention and shows the composer at their finest. Join us for a 50-minute concert with performers from the Conservatory of Music in the intimate setting of the Colburn Library. Hear from the musicians before each work and join Jonathan Brown, Professor of Chamber Music, and the musicians for a reception afterwards.
Musical Director Liz Kinnon leads Colburn’s Adult Jazz Workshops in a mix of swing, blues, be-bop, and Latin-flavored tunes. Repertoire includes standards by such icons as Vince Guaraldi, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, and others.
