The Colburn School houses the Piatigorsky Archives, the core of which is the personal collection of one of the great musical artists of the 20th century, cellist Gregor Piatigorsky (1903–1976).
Located inside the Colburn Library, the collection includes music manuscripts in Piatigorsky’s own hand, scores, audio recordings, photographs, books, clippings, and programs. Other documents include Piatigorsky’s letters home while on tour, drafts of his autobiography, and letters from the greatest performers and composers of the day.
