Thayer Hall
Virtuosic young artists from the Colburn Conservatory of Music and Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium share the stage for an afternoon of powerful chamber works. The program pairs Fauré’s buoyant Piano Quintet No. 1 with Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time,” a poignant piece for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano written and premiered during the composer’s time as a German prisoner-of-war. Joining these talented musicians for both works is celebrated cellist and Queen Elisabeth master-in-residence Gary Hoffman.
