Emmy Award-winner Kris Bowers got his start at Colburn studying jazz, piano, and composition in the Community School of Performing Arts. Since then he has skyrocketed to fame as a composer and pianist who creates genre-defying music that pays homage to his jazz roots with inflections of alternative and R&B influences.
Kris has scored some of the most popular films and television series this decade, including the Netflix hit Bridgerton and the Academy Award-winning films King Richard and Green Book. He takes the stage with Conservatory students, alumni, and faculty on Colburn’s Amplify Series for a program of his own compositions including chamber arrangements of his famous film scores.
The Amplify Series celebrates the careers of artists of color through on-campus residencies that include masterclasses, performances, panel discussions, podcast recordings, and more.
