Colburn Baroque Ensemble
Ian Pritchard, Director
The tone poems by composers such as Liszt, Smetana, and Strauss are among the most beloved works of the nineteenth century. But what are the origins of this fantastical genre? Featuring orchestral and chamber works by Telemann, Lully, Rebel, and others, this rich program will explore the immersive and colorful world of baroque tone painting, showing how baroque seeds blossom into romantic flowers.
We are grateful for the Colburn Foundation’s generous support of Baroque programming across all units of the School, including the Conservatory of Music.
Total runtime is 1 hour and 40 minutes including intermission.
