Matthias Pintscher returns to lead LACO in a program that moves from darkness to light. Haydn‘s “Trauer” Symphony opens with an intensity and emotional gravity unusual for its time. Its nickname “Mourning” was earned by a slow movement of such beauty that Haydn reportedly requested it be played at his own funeral.
