Have you ever wanted to write a poem or learn more about poetry? National Poetry Month is the perfect time! Join us for a week of reading, writing, and performing poetry led by Professor Sean Pessin, Colburn School and Cal State Northridge Faculty.
An evening of poetry and music kicks off National Poetry Month. Celebrate these two lyrical traditions with readings from new works by Los Angeles poets Paul Vangelisti and Vincent Katz.
The evening also includes performances by jazz ensemble Robyn’s Nest featuring Robyn Javier, trombone; Mark Massey, piano; Jeff Kay, trumpet; Jeff Takaguchi, bass; Kendall Kaye, drums; and vocalist Polly Geller. Katz reads from Daffodil accompanied by Gabe Crist and Esther Zhang. Copies of the poetry books will be available for purchase.
Plagiarism and Pizza, An April Fools Extravaganza!
Tuesday, April 1 at 6 pm Colburn Library Free, RSVP required
Try your hand at lying and pretending – no whopper too big!
In this playful open mic session led by Professor Sean Pessin, participants are encouraged to “get away” with reading the poetry or playing the music of others as their own. Or play your own and convince us it was written by one of the masters!
Join us for a night of pizza and AUTHORIZED plagiarism! How well can you fake it? Bring your sense of the absurd and your unabashed ability to sow the seeds of doubt. Poems and music will be provided—or bring your own. Bring your love of poetry and/or music and your completely unearned confidence.
RSVP to Debbie Smith (dsmith@colburnschool.edu) by March 31 for pizza!
