After the Audition

Response Deadline

We require all accepted applicants to respond with the decision to accept or decline our offer of admission. This is a critical requirement, because an applicant’s decision may affect the status of another applicant on the wait list. In general, our response deadline is on or around April 15.

The enrollment deposit should not be used to hold the applicant’s place while considering offers from other schools. We understand that other schools may have different response deadlines from Colburn and/or there may be exceptional circumstances that necessitate more time for your enrollment decision. Applicants who wish to request an extension to the April 15 response deadline must submit a written request via email to the Conservatory Admissions Office. Accepted applicants are encouraged to read the Enrollment Agreement carefully, which provides specific information about cancelling enrollment, as required by state law.

Enrolling

An applicant is considered enrolled when they sign and return the Enrollment Agreement, the School Performance Fact Sheet, and submit the $500 enrollment deposit.

Final Transcript

All students who are admitted and who enroll in the Colburn Conservatory of Music are required to submit a final transcript by July 15 of the summer prior to the start of classes. This transcript must document the completion of previous study.

Wait Lists

The Colburn Conservatory of Music maintains wait lists in most areas for applicants who are qualified for admission but cannot be admitted immediately due to a limited number of openings. In accordance with the NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice, wait lists are closed by August 1.

If an applicant is on the Colburn waitlist and receives an admission offer from us after the April 15 deadline, they must notify any school they previously committed to or paid a deposit to before they receive our acceptance letter.
