Alejandro Garcia joined the Colburn School in 2022, teaching violin group classes through the Center for Innovation and Community Impact in collaboration with USC’s Music and Brain Laboratory.

In addition to his work at Colburn, he teaches full-time middle school orchestra and mariachi ensembles at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy. He has held teaching positions with Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, Harmony Project-Los Angeles, and SDSU String Academy.

Mr. Garcia studied string pedagogy with Travis Maril and received Suzuki training from Daniel Cordova and Mark Mutter. Additionally, he has been mentored in orchestral music education by Matthew Mulvaney.

Mr. Garcia currently serves on the board of the California Orchestra Directors Association and is the recipient of the 2026 CODA Early Career Service Award in recognition of contributions to string education and emerging leadership in the profession.
