Music Classes that Inspire Creativity and Growth
Located on a beautiful campus in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, music lessons for children and adults at the Community School of Performing Arts are designed to spark creativity and build foundational skills in musicians of all ages.
From beginner music programs for babies, toddlers, and children, through to continuing music education for adults, we offer classes tailored for every age and level of ability.
Our world-class faculty share their expertise through private music lessons and group music classes on many instruments–piano, guitar, violin, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and voice in an encouraging, age-appropriate environment.
We also have a range of ensembles, including Youth Orchestras, Children and Youth Choirs, Jazz Ensembles, Bands, and more.

Dance Classes That Nurture Each Student’s Unique Gifts and Talents
Dance classes for kids, teens, and adults at Colburn’s Trudl Zipper Dance Institute in Los Angeles, combine a joyful environment with technique, artistic expression, and individual growth.
We are dedicated to the tradition of passing down our beloved art forms to community of Los Angeles. We provide dance classes for children and teens in ballet, tap, modern, jazz dance, hip-hop, and creative movement, plus adult dance classes in ballet, tap, modern dance, and hip hop. Classes are available after-school and at weekends.
Dance classes are taught by our esteemed faculty of former professional dancers who have performed and taught around the world. They have created a safe, open, and supportive environment where the individual gifts and talents of all students are nurtured and supported.

Acting and Theater Programs that Build Confidence
Our drama classes for kids and youths aged 5 to 16 foster confidence and encourage students to take creative risks, through a learning environment in which students are free to explore and work without fear of judgement.
Working with our world-class faculty, students will study improvisation, body movement, and theater games, gradually advancing to monologues, scene work, script analysis, and character development.
The Musical Theatre program at Colburn is designed for students ages 14–18 who have a passion for singing, dancing, and acting. This is a program for the triple-threat artist to deepen their skill level in voice, dance, and acting, and to provide the skills needed to seamlessly shift back and forth between the three.
