The Trudl Zipper Dance Institute welcomes students from ages 4 to adult to study ballet, tap, modern, and hip hop, with a world-class faculty of former professionals. Our season features performances from the students of our pre-professional Dance Academy; ballet, tap, and modern students of all ages from our Youth Dance program; our exceptional Tap Faculty; and guest artists.
Performances take place in Zipper Hall and the more intimate space of the LA Dance Project’s 2245.

Trudl Zipper Dance Institute Artistic Director Janie Taylor is joined by New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns for an evening that illuminates the creative process. The pair will discuss Sonata for Saras a piece they created together from different cities and premiered on the LA Dance Project digital platform. Colburn’s exceptional Dance Academy students will perform the work alongside talented young artists from the Colburn Conservatory playing the accompanying music: Sonata for Piano and Clarinet by Olga Harris

Dance Academy and Music Academy students perform celebrated choreography paired with musical masterworks. The performance will also feature original works created by Dance Academy artists that showcase the improvisation and composition skills essential for a professional career in dance.
