Enjoy a spellbinding performance and intimate artist discussion exploring the rich tradition of art song. James Conlon, Frederica ‘Flicka’ von Stade, Rod Gilfry, and Kevin Murphy start the afternoon with an in-depth discussion drawing on their many years of experience performing and coaching art song.
Afterwards, Frederica ‘Flicka’ von Stade, Rod Gilfry, and Kevin Murphy take the stage for a concert featuring the music of Berlioz, Debussy, Korngold, Schubert, Weill, and more. They will be joined by singers from LA Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program, Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute, and the Young Musicians Choral Orchestra, as well as piano students from the studio of Colburn faculty Fabio Bidini.
Part of the Art of Song Festival, a two-day festival curated by LA Opera Music Director James Conlon that brings together torchbearers and rising voices of the art song tradition.
