Music Restored: The Ziering-Conlon Center for Exiled and Suppressed Composers is a unique Colburn resource that encourages greater awareness and more frequent performances of classical music by composers whose careers and lives were tragically cut short by the Nazi regime in Europe.

Music Restored: The Ziering-Conlon Center for Exiled and Suppressed Composers at Colburn welcomes artists from the Exilarte Center in Vienna for a joint chamber music performance that reclaims voices nearly erased by history. This artistic collaboration honors composers silenced as “degenerate” under the Third Reich, bringing their string quartet music to life with urgency and care. This profound program stands as a shared act of remembrance and resilience, advancing long-delayed justice through performance.
