Music Theory and Ear Training Faculty
Dr. Brandon J. Rolle is a composer whose work fuses traditional methods with research in acoustics, psychoacoustics, and computer-assisted approaches to composition. He was a student of pioneering composers Pauline Oliveros at Mills College and Clarence Barlow at UC Santa Barbara.
Music Pedagogy
Dr. Yi’s research focus is on ethnic studies, culturally responsive pedagogy, and EDIA (equity, diversity, inclusion, and access) initiatives as they pertain to music performance and education.

Esa-Pekka Salonen is Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony, Conductor Laureate of the Philharmonia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the faculty of the Colburn School, he directs the pre-professional Negaunee Conducting Program and holds the Maestro Ernst H. Katz Chair of Conducting Studies.
Tuba Faculty
Aaron Tindall is a frequent soloist, guest artist/clinician, and orchestral tubist throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has been featured at all of the International Tuba and Euphonium Conferences since 2006, performed in England with the National Champion Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band, and his solo playing has been heard on NPR’s Performance Today.
Tuba Faculty
Dr. Tornquist is a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony, New West Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, and Santa Monica Symphony. He performs regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera Orchestra, and on various film and television scores, including Edward Scissorhands, Wreck it Ralph, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Big Friendly Giant.
