Colburn alumni shared the stage with the Colburn Orchestra, led by Esa-Pekka Salonen, LA Phil New Music Group, L.A. Dance Project, and more at the 2026 Ojai Music Festival. 

While spending a year on the road together, Michelle Shin, Juan-Salvador Carrasco, and Lucinda Chiu learned they’re not just colleagues, they’re all members of the Colburn family. They also learned how Colburn training continues to enable them to take on new and varied musical opportunities.  

Years after graduating from the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, Elvia Perez still treasures the support she received from teachers and staff. In fact, those memories now motivate her to use her own expertise in finance to generate opportunities for others. 

Since its inception, the Ojai Music Festival has invited engaged and curious audiences to experience the performing arts in a picturesque setting, featuring distinguished soloists, prominent chamber ensembles, and world-class orchestras along with artists in dance, theater, and more.

Esa-Pekka Salonen returns for a third stint as music director of the Ojai Music Festival, which makes him uniquely aware of the festival’s history of presenting an array of composers and some of today’s leading musicians.
