Jasmin Solfaghari is known throughout Europe as an author, teacher, dramatic coach and most well-known as an opera director. She has directed Rigoletto, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tannhäuser, Der Ring Des Nibelungen, and has reached critical acclaim by her recent and ongoing production of Parsifal in Dornach, Switzerland at the Goetheanum. In this lecture she will discuss directing Parsifal with its important nuances and the complexities of doing so in a non-traditional opera house.

Maestro Esa-Pekka Salonen returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall for an all-Finnish program featuring some of Sibelius’s greatest hits. After an ethereal piece by Kaija Saariaho – a work dedicated to Salonen himself – the violin shines in Sibelius’s brooding Violin Concerto before the soaring melodies and triumphant timbre of Sibelius’s Second Symphony close out the concert.
